An apicoectomy treats infection at the end of the root. This area cannot always be reached with a standard root canal treatment through the inside of the tooth. Surgery removes the infection outside the root tip area and seals it to help protect the tooth.

This is a common, predictable procedure performed by our endodontists.

What is an Apicoectomy

  • What Happens During Treatment

    Steps

    • Local anesthesia is given

    • A small opening is made near the root tip

    • Inflamed tissue is removed

    • The tip of the root is cleaned

    • A filling is placed at the end of the root

    • The area is stitched to support healing

    What You Feel

    • You stay comfortable throughout the procedure.

Understanding Apicoectomy Surgery

This video explains how endodontic surgery removes infection at the root tip and supports the long term health of your natural tooth.

“I always heard root canals were slow and painful, so I was surprised by how smooth this visit was. The doctor treated me in one visit and I felt comfortable the whole time. My dentist recommended Endodontic Specialists because they work closely together. The process was clear, efficient, and far better than I expected.”

Patient Feedback

“I was nervous before my visit, but the treatment was easier than a teeth cleaning. I could not believe how fast it felt. I expected pain, but the entire appointment was comfortable. The team explained each step and helped me feel calm. I left relieved, confident, and grateful I was sent here.”
